Housing Counselor I
POSITION TITLE:
Position Summary
​
Primarily responsible for the implementation and the execution of Lydia’s House housing counseling program. Coordinates and implements Housing Counseling services to District Residents through group and one-on-one counseling to assist clients in obtaining, retaining, and maintaining their housing choices. Works closely with the Program Manager and Housing Counseling Team to achieve monthly goals.
Major responsibilities and duties of the position include:

Coordinates and make presentations for the group and one-on-one client education

Provides technical assistance to residents for a range of housing issues and concerns;

Provides comprehensive housing counseling services including outreach and education for affordable housing, including homeownership for low and moderate-income persons;

The primary point of contact for government home purchase assistance programs
-
Conducts client workshops.

Implement evolving administrative procedures.

Maintains detailed records and statistical information.

Spreadsheet/Data-Based Management and Tracking.

Track cases and continue counseling until completion and resolution.

Provide Operational Support in Key areas to maintain customer/client satisfaction.

Other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibility

Work with the Program Manager to identify potential funding sources to support Lydia’s House general operations.

Engage in Grants Management
-
Learn Lydia’s House Basic accounting and personnel procedures as deemed by the Program Manager.

Participate in Community Outreach Campaigns.

Represent Lydia’s House at Community Events.
Eligibility Requirements
-
Bachelor Degree and/or Minimum of 3 years of housing counseling experience and/or related experience
-
Knowledge of Fair Housing Act
-
Experience with DC housing programs, HUD programs and other government-sponsored housing initiatives such as the DC Housing Finance Agency and/or demonstrable ability to achieve knowledge
-
Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Normal office hours are on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm. This position requires periodic scheduled evening and weekend work.
• 100 % of time allocated to the program
The salary range for this position is based on the federal grant budget, experience, and qualifications
